Capcom....Nintendo.... and DEMOS

Demo's are usually the "make it or break it" type thing for pretty much all developers. If all people got the chance to play the demo, and the game is on a lot of TV advertisement space but the game still results in unsuccessful low sales, that will tell you a lot about on how the game actually plays. If a majority of people got the chance to play the demo, and it has a lot of advertisement space, and the game results in successful sales, that's great, and I'm pretty sure that'll be the case for Monster Hunter Tri. Now this doesn't mean that the Monster Hunter Tri demo will be the bomb or anything. As a matter of fact, in many cases, I've seen developers put out out some of the crappiest of demos. I've also seen, in many cases, developers bring out only ONE good part of the game in demo form *cough* The Force Unleashed *cough*. Was that uncalled for, or unecessary in any way, shape, or form? I don't care. It just needed to be said.
Back to Monster Hunter Tri, though. Will other developers start following with bringing out demos? I have many doubts about that, it could be done but I'm not really hopeful on seeing anything. The company that I DO believe that could start doing demos is Nintendo themselves. They've already shown that they do, in fact, think about demos and their multiple possibilities when it comes to the software sales of a game with their effort to give Wii owners the chance to test out some Wii Ware titles, although it was only for a short period of time, it was still a very nice addition to the Wii and it should have stayed permanent, and also brought demos to all Wii Shop Channel games. That would have taken quite awhile though. If the Monster Hunter Tri demo turns out to be a success for Capcom, maybe Nintendo will begin bringing out demos for some of their anticipated games like Super Mario Galaxy 2 and Metroid: Other M. A guy can dream, ya know? That would be nice though, wouldn't it? Back on point. Maybe Nintendo actually already does have some demos ready to be released through retail? Maybe Nintendo has a hard drive in the works (which seems apparent considering IGN received a Wii that had a hard drive and you could download games straight to the Wii)?
Who knows, Nintendo is more secretive than the CIA when it comes to things that deal with the company and their hardware.
When Nintendo announced the Wii Ware demos, it was pretty apparent that they may be heading completely into the virtual download service and having demos on the Wii. According to Nintendo, much paraphrased, they wanted to pretty much evaluate how demos could affect the sales of software. I'm not sure how those five or six Wii Ware titles performed sales-wise, but I'm sure the sales bumped up a little bit after being available to download for free for about a month. So maybe after they checked the sales data, they decided to give demos another go with retail titles and allowing Capcom to do a free demo, through Gamestop, for Monster Hunter Tri. So let's hope Nintendo starts making first party demos, which I doubt, but would still love. And let's hope the Monster Hunter Tri demo is as fun as the Japanese have been clamoring about.
